Getting excited about TV…

So I’m starting to get a little excited about TV.

The fall season was very disappointing for me. I watched less tv this year then ever. At some point I made a decision to stop watching all the ho-hum shows that were just time fillers and focus just on the quality shows i enjoyed. (Heroes, Smallville, Grey’s, Dexter, Mad Men and Trueblood) I supplemented some new tv shows at work during lunch time as well which I really enjoyed (Breaking Bad and Merlin)

But I’m starting to get excited, three of my favorites are getting ready to startup again this month… Actually next week for a couple of them. I can’t wait.

Friday Night Lights, Battlestar Galactica and Lost.

Finally, good television arrives.

Breaking Bad

I started watching Breaking Bad on AMC last week. So far I’ve gotten through two episodes. I’m really enjoying it. It’s one of those odd, quirky, humorous shows. Too bad it’s only seven episodes. I think I’m going to really like it.

Gearing Up for the Fall Television Season…

So I spent some time looking at what I want to watch on TV this fall.  I have to make sure I’m prepared to set my DVR you know.  So here’s a list of the shows I’m planning on watching (At least from the beginning)

Mon @ 8 – Terminator (Fox)

@ 9 – Heroes (NBC), Prison Break (Fox)

@10 – My own worst Enemy (NBC)

Tues @ 9 – Mentalist (CBS), Fringe (Fox)

Wed @ 8 – Knight Rider (NBC)

Thurs @ 8 Smallville (CW)

          @ 9 – Office (NBC), Grey’s (ABC)

          @ 10 – Eleventh Hour (CBS)

Fri  @ 8 Crusoe (NBC)

Sun @ 9 Dexter (Sho), True Blood (HBO)

      @ 10 Brothers and Sisters

Notable favorites missing from the list include:  Friday Night Lights, Lost & Battlestar starting later in the season and Mad Men, which should be ending it’s second season soon I imagine.
So taking out time for commercials which I fast forward I’m figuring that I’ve got about 10-11 hours of TV time here.  But I imagine when all is said and done I’ll probably have ditched half the shows.
The first to go will probably be the ones on CBS:  The Mentalist & Eleventh hour.  For some reason I just don’t connect with CBS’s dramas.  Probably next to go will be Knight Rider & My own worst enemy.  I can’t imagine Knight Rider being any good, but I loved it as a kid so I’ve got to give it a chance.  My Own Worst enemy looks interesting with Christian Slater, but if it doesn’t have a good story it will loose me right away (just like Journeyman and Mr. Smith a year ago).
Borderline right now is Prison Break – I’ve loved the first 2 or 3 (I can’t remember) seasons so far.  But I don’t think I can take it anymore.  I had to force myself to watch just half of the 2 hour premier Monday.  It has the same feel of 24 for me. You can only stomach the same kind of storyline for so long.
There’s a couple new shows that I’m excited about.  Namely Crusoe, I’ve seen one preview of it.  At first glance it reminded me of Pirates of the Carribean.  Don’t know where the story lines going, but I’m a sucker for Adventure type movies/shows.  Should be good.  The other one that I’m watching with hopeful expectation is Fringe on Fox – Produced by JJ Abrams.  I’ve liked several of Abrams other work (Alias, Lost, What about Brian).  Might be good.
I’m pumped about my favorites coming back…  Heroes, Greys, Smallville, and can’t wait for Friday Night Lights and Lost.
I’ll have to sit down this week and start programming my DVR if I can.
