Ringtones…

Ringtones are an interesting animal aren’t they?  They are one of the ways a person can really personalize their phone and make it uniquely theirs.  I’m sure all of us have heard some pretty interesting, maybe funny, definitely annoying ringtones around the office or out in the wild.  But ringtones can also be used as a tool to help you identify right away who is calling you.

I’ll admit I’ve never spent much time messing with ringtones. Typically I’ve had two ringtones:  One for my wife and one for everyone else.  I actually leave my phone on vibrate a lot so i don’t forget about turning it off before some important meeting and get some crazy unapproving stares from people – not enjoying the ringtone of my choice.

But last night I spent some time working on some ringtones…  Inspired by my wife who spent all day working on hers.  So here’s what I came up with.

My default ringtone – Viva la vida by Coldplay.   I’ll confess I copied my wife on this one, but Coldplay is my favorite group and I would have chosen this one on my own – she just beat me to it.

My wife’s ringtone – I wanna marry you all over again by Derek Webb.  I love Derek Webb and wanted to pick a song that had some kind of meaning for my wife whom I love.  I hate picking songs that everyone would know so this one seemed to fit.

My family ringtone – Fork and Knife by Brand New.  Great song for a ringtone.  Has a great piano part and interesting beat.  This used to be my default ringtone and I like it so much I had to keep it around.

Special Friends Ringtone –  Nothing in my way by Keane.  There are a few friends (4 to be exact) that i have given a ringtone that holds a certain special meaning to me.  I will leave this a mystery for now, but I’m sure any of the four would understand why as soon as they heard the song.

Ringtone for everyone at work – Chaos by Mute Math.  There’s really no need to explain that one.

So what are your favorite ring tones and why?
