Favorite Praise & Worship Songs
I was listening to my Praise and worship playlists this morning, in need of a pick me up. And I started thinking about my favorite praise and worship songs. I tried making a list before writing this post, but it’s really hard. I find that my favorites are always changing, depending on what mode I’m in or what’s going on. There’s songs I love to sing and songs I love to listen to. There’s great songs I’m just tired of that I skip over. So, here’s an incomplete and inconclusive list of the songs I enjoy as of right now.
(UPDATE 11/19 – I get a lot of hits on this post daily so I figured I’d try to update it. I’ve bolded songs I’ve recently started liking and left on the ones from my original posts. If anyone has suggestions I’d love to read them. I’m always looking for a new worship song)

Rich-
Charlotte and I love your Valentine message. Actually, I just bought Terry a new linc today, I had to let him pay for it since I don’t have a job.
Talking about songs, Charlotte and Terry sang a real oldie last night. You might not even know it. It is, “At the Cross.” She said you would not know it. Well, I’m sending her your way for a few days. By the way, our weather today was 75. Love–Your darling Mother-in-law and her best friend.
Of course I know “At the Cross”. I still enjoy some of the hymns we grew up singing, that being one of them. Very beautiful words/imagery, a lot of theology in them. Seems like a lot of todays songs are too much “Fluff”, more about music and emotion less about lyrics. One of the things I loved to do was to tie an older song into a newer one. You know songs that had the same theme or message. I thinks it brings a bigger meaning to both songs and helps both young folks and old folks appreciate the others preference. I think I used to tie “At the Cross” (the chorus at least) onto the end of a newer song called “Here I am to Worship” by Tim Hughes. Here I am to worship ends with, “I’ll never know how much it cost, to see my sin upon that cross.” and then you break in almost accapella “at the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light…” Pretty awesome stuff. To steel a concept that my pastor’s talking about right now…very “Synergistic”.
My favorite hymns – Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, I need thee every hour, Amazing Grace (of course). I prefer the slower ones.
I am the bass player for “Falling Forward,” a band who plays for a ministry in Dallas, TX for the homeless. We also play for a youth group Wedn. night. We are trying to find some songs that are up beat, something that will get their attention, and also some songs that would kinda hit home for them. I enjoy all the songs that you listed, but we have most of them, were looking for something new. If you can give me any advice or let me know where i could look that would be much appreciated. Thank you so much, God bless.

Kelsi,
Do you have a website or anything for your band? I’d love to give you a listen. Sounds like you guys are doing so awesome stuff for Jesus, keep up the good work.
Unfortunately I’ve kinda gotten out of the loop looking for new music these days, we’ve got some leaders on our team that do that. But I can give a few suggestions of were I would look, though you’re probably aware of most of these.
I would start by going to the websites of places like: Vineyard Music, Vertical Music, Six Step Records, Kingsway Songs, Hillsong United. Try some of the message boards where worship leaders converse like, worshiptogether, PWArchive, etc… Go to the websites of your favorite worship leaders/bands.
I came across one site today (hotworship.com) that looked interesting. In theory it looks good. Basically it’s links to a ton of live/streaming worship from various churches. Maybe you can pick up something from some of them. At least see what they are playing.
Here’s another website with some links and resources. danwilt.com.
Good luck – Let me know if you find anything good.
Love My Glorious by Delirious. We’ve never done it during a worship time though.
I’ve got to update this list with a couple more songs we started singing lately.
Center – By Charlie Hall (Me and a female lead split up the song I think there’s a cool symmetry there going on with the song – Keeps focus on Jesus, Lyrics, song, congregation. The congregation does awesome singing this one. I wanted to back way off and listen last week.
Beautiful News – By Matt Redman. I’ll admit I didn’t like it when I first heard it, but after rehearsal I liked it and after doing it live in church I fell in love. It’s my new favorite song to sing.
Haven’t heard either of those songs Rich… must see if I can find some videos for them on YouTube.
(I see you’re a Lost fan. I missed it last night, but it’s repeated tonight so I’m off to watch it now).
Lost is one of my favorites. Where you from, UK? Where I’m from (US) Lost is on Wednesday nights.
Yeah, we’re only a couple of nights behind here. Your episode goes out on the Wednesday, and for us (in the UK) the following Sunday night.
I live in Northern Ireland, so I also have the option of watching it on Irish television on Monday night!
Nice selection. they are also my favorites
I also would like to share this site I admin, it has Spanish Christian music>

hey there, good stuff
I am trying to find the music to a song, I don’t even remember all of the words. I learned the song when I was 14 in a charismatic church and am now 34 and desperately searching for someone that can help me find this song. Some of the lyrics are:
Don’t you know, the tempters out there temptin’
He cannot ever hope to win, no no.
Don’t you know, that Jesus is the King of the World,
We are livin’ in.
Can anyone help?
